Once again, our lives get so busy that I forget to blog and here I am trying to catch up. Kind of like Jake's baby scrapbook - the one that doesn't even exist yet except for his ultrasound picture...
So, here we go again for all of you who have been waiting :)
We spent a fun weekend at the beach for Joey's company Christmas party and even fit in a soccer clinic at Cal Poly for Lauren...
Jake and Sophie beat me at life-size checkers. Legitimately! Very embarrassing for the mom!
The Five of Us enjoyed a long and relaxing Christmas vacation with a visit from Joey's parents and a Christmas celebration at Uncle Jimmy's house!

Sophie was having a rare sad moment:
This is our step great- grandmother. She is ninety years old and is so sweet to our kids!! Isn't she beautiful??
Lauren was asked to her Winter Formal in a Winter Wonderland! With a snowman, a wintry backdrop, fake glittery snow, a frappucinno, beautiful flowers, and music... She is spoiled! And I want to be back in High School again so Joey has to think of some cute way to ask me!!!
We found a beautiful dress - very different than last year's and she LOVES it so pictures will follow after the Formal on February 4th!!
High School soccer season is in full swing and yes, you are correct in noting that I have not posted very many posts regarding victories. That is because they have been few and far between :( Very few... BUT... this is a huge rebuilding year for us and just you wait 'til next year!!
Great life lessons are being learned by my big girl on that field this year. How to play under intense pressure and not lose your cool. How to be a gracious loser person who does not win. How and when to uplift others when you aren't feeling so much like ya' want to. And how to handle the disappointment of knowing there is no way you are coming home with another valley championship ring :) Well, not this year at least! She loves her teammates and is thrilled to play for her High School once again so she is still having loads of fun!
But, this girl of mine is an intense competitor and does. not. like. to. lose. 'Nuff said.
See you back here after the 4th for Formal pictures!!

Great pictures, Jill! Sophie's hair is so long and beautiful.
If you had to wait for Joey to come up with some really romantic way of asking you out in high school, you and I probably wouldn't have end up related. ;)
P.S. Is Lauren wearing flats to be shorter than her date? How thoughtful of her.
Lauren is indeed wearing flats for just that reason :)
